ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 12th Oct, 2026) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that if Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is now hearing talk of governor’s rule and an emergency, it is not the fault of the people but the result of 13 years of incompetence.
She asked why mothers in Punjab are carefree while mothers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa live in fear, saying the focus there had remained on marching on Islamabad rather than protecting the public. In a post on X, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had received only protests, disorder, abusive rhetoric and cheap trends for 13 years.
She said that if the province is now hearing talk of governor’s rule and an emergency, the responsibility lies with 13 years of incompetence, not the people. She asked why Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, being part of the same country, sharing the same Constitution and entitled to a share of the same national treasury, were witnessing development in one province and decline and unrest in the other.
The difference, she said, was not resources but intention and ability.
