Abu Dhabi, : Royal Champs icon player Jason Roy, expressed confidence in the franchise’s ability to bounce back at the ongoing 2025 Abu Dhabi T10.

Roy, who scored 42 off 25 balls in the Royal Champs’ recent seven wicket loss to the Ajman Titans on Sunday, acknowledged the team’s struggles but emphasised the squad’s determination to find winning combinations.

The Royal Champs are still searching for their first win of the season, despite pushing three of their four games right down to the final over.

“A few things haven’t been working well for us, but we’re working hard to get the right mix and balance in the team. It’s T10 cricket – it’s just that one match to get the momentum back, and I’m confident this team will bounce back.”

The 2019 World Cup winner drew strength from the experience within the Royal Champs setup, highlighting the leadership of senior professionals and legendary coach Sir Courtney Walsh.

“Having guys like Angelo Mathews and Shakib Al Hasan in the dressing room is invaluable. Their experience in pressure situations and different formats bring so much to the group,” Roy explained. “With Sir Courtney Walsh at the helm guiding us, we have the leadership and knowledge to turn this around. As a unit, we’re backing ourselves and backing each other.”

Roy also highlighted the physical demands of the tournament’s format, with short intervals between matches. “Fitness and recovery are crucial in such a grueling schedule. We’re managing our resources carefully to ensure everyone is at their best when called upon,” he added.

Despite the challenging start to Champs’ inaugural campaign, the 35-year-old’s passion for playing in the UAE capital remains unwavering. “I genuinely enjoy my cricket in Abu Dhabi and love coming here. The facilities are world-class, and there’s so much to explore in the region. It’s a fantastic environment for players”

The Abu Dhabi T10 runs through November 30, with Royal Champs set to face Aspin Stallions next on November 26.
