An Essence of the Future of Cricket: Simon Doull Reflects on Abu Dhabi T10

*Abu Dhabi, :* The legendary commentating duo from New Zealand, Simon Doull and Danny Morrison, looked back at the 2025 Abu Dhabi T10, sharing their thoughts on the tournament so far and a few players that caught their eyes over the past 12 days.

Reflecting upon the ninth season of the Abu Dhabi T10, Doull remarked, “Each year, the tournament attracts increasingly skilled players. The scheduling is ideal for many international athletes, who enjoy competing in the pleasant climate and at the stunning Zayed Stadium. This event is one that players are eager to win; everyone enjoys participating, the teams are excellent, the management is efficient, and the competition is fierce.”

Speaking about the emerging talent from the U.A.E., Danny Morrison zeroed in on right-arm quick Zohair Iqbal, who is the third-highest wicket-taker so far with 10 wickets in eight matches. Morrison stated, “Even amongst international bowlers, Zohair Iqbal has really stood out for me. Domestically, he is their best bowler and has taken wickets in crucial circumstances to help the Aspin Stallions. He has swung the ball really nicely so far, with the pitches offering something for bowlers as well as batters.”

Doull also highlighted the uniqueness of the competition and opined, “The Abu Dhabi T10 is exciting, action packed and incredibly competitive. You get an essence of the future of cricket in this format. It is the shortest and fastest form of the game. You don’t need to invest a lot of time in consuming it, as everything unfolds within about an hour and a half to two hours.

With the Qualifier Two and the Final of the Abu Dhabi T10 just a few hours away, Morrison highlighted two teams that might win the tournament, “The Quetta Qavalry has been the most consistent team, even with some changes in players. I don’t mind if they win. But it’s surprising how the UAE Bulls, with all the talent at their disposal, just barely made the playoffs in fourth place. Sometimes in franchise cricket, teams sneak in at the last moment and then win the whole tournament.”

The 2025 Abu Dhabi T10 is set to conclude today as the Quetta Qavalry take on the UAE Bulls in the Qualifier Two. The winner of this fixture will then take on the Aspin Stallions for the ADT10 trophy at the Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
