BENGLURU: The Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of playing divisive politics over the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. In a press statement, Siddaramaiah expressed support for the Congress party’s decision to refrain from attending the event, citing controversial remarks by the Ram Mandir Trust Secretary that allegedly marginalized Shaivas and Shaktas.
Siddaramaiah criticized the BJP and Prime Minister Modi for turning a religious event into a political campaign, asserting that the inauguration should have transcended religious, caste, and creed boundaries. He accused the BJP and RSS leaders of hypocrisy for remaining silent on the inauguration of an incomplete temple.
The Chief Minister emphasized the Congress party’s consistent stand on the Ram temple issue, stating that they were committed to accepting the court’s decision. He questioned the timing of the inauguration, suggesting that it was an attempt to create a Hindu wave ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
“We are not opposed to Hinduism but blind rituals and beliefs in the name of religion and bringing religion into politics is condemnable. We will oppose the fake Hindutva of the BJP and the Sangh Parivar, and we won’t bother about setbacks in politics,” Siddaramaiah declared.
