Children and adults alike revelled in the magic of an enchanting one-of-a-kind interactive bubble show at the 43rd Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) on Sunday. A mesmerising double act by two female artistes that mixed music, bubbles and magic to create a dreamlike performance was the best start to the day for the spectators.
The show opens with Sophia, a young lady in her night suit sleeping on her bed on her birthday. She wakes up and opens her birthday gifts but is not impressed by any of them except the one revealing the bubble sister, a lady in a white and yellow bodysuit. Sophia takes time to warm up the bubble lady and her antics, but soon they are both having fun blowing bubbles. The bubbles get bigger and longer and stay on longer.
The bubble lady presents a cake that releases bubbles when they blow into it and plays the happy birthday tune on her guitar; she then ties on one end of the guitar to a bubble wand that releases bubbles. She even creates a fantasy world of bubbles under water and Sophia overcomes her initial discomfort in water and joins in the fun. They get on a lifeboat, and later fill it with soapy water and create bubbles as long as tunnels. After having loads of fun, even inviting a child from the audience to go inside a massive bubble, the two ladies get back to bed to sleep.
Blending singing, live instruments, and a captivating bubble-filled universe, the show provided a magical experience for the young audience and their guardians.
Dance troupes and roaming shows are a fascinating aspect of the 12-day book fair, and it gets better and bigger each year providing undiluted fun, free of cost to all.
