LOS ANGELES: The untimely death of Matthew Perry, the beloved actor best known for his role in “Friends,” continues to raise questions as a former chief medical examiner speculates that the cause may be linked to an unknown drug.

Perry, aged 54, was discovered unresponsive in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home on October 28, leading to widespread shock and grief. The official cause of death remains undetermined, although no foul play is suspected.

While Perry was laid to rest at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park cemetery on November 3, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing. Initial toxicology results yielded no traces of fentanyl or methamphetamines in Perry’s system.

Former chief medical examiner Dr. Michael Baden shared insights with media, stating, “They’ve got pretty much 99 percent of what they’re going to get at this point as far as information goes, and they can release it now, or they can wait for a couple more weeks because they’re looking for some unknown drug.” Dr. Baden suggested that microscopic slides might be under scrutiny, with the toxicology report expected to be finalised soon.
